VMEbus

The VMEbus specification (ANSI/VITA 1-1994) was developed for 19" racks and supports bus lengths of up to 21 slots. The J1 backplane 3 U (16 bit) supports all data and control signals and therefore functions as a stand-alone backplane. The J2 backplane (3 U) supplements the J1 backplane in the system in order to work with a higher transmission rate (32 bits). The "Monolithic" backplane (6 U) is used for quick installation and a simple power supply. This combines the J1 and J2 into a 6 U backplane. Active and passive termination as well as daisy chain are available for bus termination.
